What are Hybrid Water Heaters?

Hybrid Water Heaters are a mix of the long-proven ‘traditional’ hot water tank we all grew up with and modern, high-efficiency heat pump technology. In fact, many home owners will not even recognize the difference at first glance (although there are many)!

During low-demand periods, hybrid water heaters will use modern air-to-water heat pump technology to extract heat energy from the ambient air and transfer that energy to the water stored in the very well insulated tank. This heat extraction and transfer technology is conceptually the same as what is used with ductless split heat pump or central heat pump systems that are fast becoming the de-facto choice for gas-free home heating.
